End of Support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10

Tomorrow, January 12th, Microsoft will be ending support for all Internet Explorer versions older than 11.

What does end of support mean?Microsoft

It means that all other versions of IE: 8,9,10.. and anything older (which no one should have operating on their computer anymore. ever. at all…) will no longer receive technical support and security updates. Internet Explorer 11 is the latest version and will continue to receive compatibility fixes, technical support, and security updates on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.

What should you do about it?

You should upgrade! No longer receiving support or security upgrades may sound like a risk you are willing to take but this leaves your computer open to vulnerabilities and malware that may exploit your sensitive data.

“Internet Explorer 11 offers improved security, increased performance, better backward compatibility, and support for the web standards that power today’s websites and services. Microsoft encourages customers to upgrade and stay up-to-date on the latest browser for a faster, more secure browsing experience.” – Microsoft Corporation on their end of support for old versions of Internet Explorer
